Everyone’s work-life balance is different. Research shows some people thrive on after-hours work connectivity, while others can succumb to digital burnout and added stress. As communication and productivity tools continue to evolve, it’s important to understand where those boundaries lie for your team so you can respect individual work-life balance and empower them to succeed. This is even more hyper-relevant today amid the current health crisis – with our data showing that managers are sending 20% more messages after hours (check out our recent blog on the topic here).
To help ease the situation, Cultivate today released a Chrome Extension for Gmail™ called Cultivate SmartSend that’s designed to make after-hours message scheduling simple. From playing catch-up to forwarding that in-the-moment note of inspiration, sometimes you just need to get an after-hours message off your plate and out the door, but don’t want to negatively impact your team. SmartSend understands this and makes sure your team receives any after-hours message the following day, in compliance with their individual messaging preferences – no tedious scheduling required.
Here’s how it works:
- Head to the Chrome Web Store and download the SmartSend extension and install it now. Follow the prompts and the first-time tutorial at launch.
- Add contacts you communicate with frequently to the extension and configure the typical work hours of team members.
- Next time you compose an email to a team member during their offline-hours, SmartSend will automatically appear to notify you if it’s after hours and give you the option to SmartSend (this can also be configured for group emails).
- With just one click, you can select SmartSend, which then schedules the after-hours message for the recipient’s next available workday and time (and shows you a confirmation). It’s that simple!
Cultivate is a digital leadership platform that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to provide in-the-moment feedback and management coaching to enterprise leaders. Beyond helping managers become more self-aware, the platform also offers nudges and tools that help put that feedback into action. SmartSend was born from one of Cultivate’s most utilized features and was designed to help managers customize after-hour team communications. Now any Gmail user can download the extension for free and benefit from a smart after-hours message scheduler.
